I’m in the process of making commercial bar tops and side tables using slabs of live edge walnut. I’ve been using Magic Resin epoxy to fill voids in the walnut slabs to make them easier to wipe down.
The Deep Pour resin has been great to work with and has minimal bubbles (which I quickly got rid of with a torch). It was challenging to keep the epoxy from leaking out of my formwork before curing. After a lot of experimentation, the best solution was to seal my forms from the bottom with clear UV Resin (also from Magic Resin) which cured in seconds using the provided UV lamp.
I did find the deep pour resin did take a couple days longer than anticipated to cure to a point it could be sanded and polished - but worth the wait. Also, I was impressed with how quick and detailed of a reply I got when emailing the company with technical questions; I will be a repeat customer (and love that it’s a Canadian company!).
