Cup pouring

I have tried other resins when I pour cups and goblets with various materials in the walls. Even when the walls are less than 2 inches thick almost all the time the resin cracks requiring repairs. With the magic resin I have had no cracking. The down side is of course the longer cure time.

Fewer bubbles which I really like but takes forever (3 - 5 days) to cure this resin would be perfect if it cured faster.

Slow curing, great product to work with. Read my comment for a good tip.

This product has a low viscosity which makes for easy mixing and for it to degas even without vacuum. A suggestion here if you want to mix colors for a marble effect. Mix a big enough batch for whole project plus some. After mixing thoroughly, separate into smaller containers for each color, let it rest for about 8hrs to thicken some and remix, pigment tends to settle so be sure to scrape the bottom and walls good. If you have lots of crevasses to fill this will be about the right time to pour. If not, wait another hour or so to thicken more. This stuff thickens very slowly, the longer you wait the better the marbling. I haven't gone over 10 hours because I want it to still absorb into the wood and any new bubbles can still hopefully escape. Very rare to have a bubble problem later.

Superior Deep Pour Option

I researched as many deep pour (4" - 6") resins I could find online looking for a lower cost alternative to the ones I've been using. Not only did Magic Resin meet the needs, it did so with better characteristics than its competition. Most notable are its low viscosity and its degassing. The low viscosity allows for better filling of forms with less trapped air as well as excellent penetration. The degassing was amazing. I typically use a small vacuum chamber to degas each batch of resin for 5-9 minutes (typically 4-8 batches). By the time I got to the second batch, it had degassed itself and the vacuum did not further the degassing. Clearly this saved tons of time. I have had no thermal cracking with pours over 4" with embedded wood. Bottom line: Great price, great product, surpasses the competition in many ways.
